The Green Chamber of Commerce was formed to organize businesses large and small that produce goods and/or services that promote a healthy environment and/or operate in a manner that significantly conserves resources, prevents pollution and strictly curtails the emission of greenhouse gases.*

We also believe it is necessary for progressive firms to join together and lobby for legislation that will stimulate the development of sustainable alternative energy sources.

In areas such as the San Francisco Bay Area, Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, and Los Angeles County, groups have been working hard for years to establish a network for green, sustainable businesses, and to assist firms in efforts to operate in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Our hope is that the Green Chamber of Commerce will become a link between these organizations and new ones that we will help establish.

Our goal is to pool talent and know-how and create the framework where we all can share our experiences with firms and communities where sustainable business development is not currently underway.

We need to organize every commercial district in the State of California and beyond. This is not an idle dream -- it is something we must do. And we must begin that work now.

There is also a tremendous need for progressive firms to promote legislation, both locally and statewide, that will dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve natural resources, and help provide the infrastructure for a new economy where wealth is created by innovation and sustainable commerce.
