California Business Owners and Entrepreneurs Urge Air Board to Adopt Strong Emissions Trading Program

More than 125 small/mainstream businesses, cleantech companies and business associations – representing tens of thousands of employees around the state – issued a letter today urging the California Air Resources Board (ARB) to adopt a proposed emissions trading program (also known as cap and trade) that will reduce carbon, grow the economy, and create jobs, with the goal of creating a better future for all Californians. The ARB Board will hold a hearing on the program tomorrow in Sacramento.

The Green Chamber recently joined with the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC), adding strength to their already powerful national network of socially responsible and sustainable business associations. The council is a policy advocacy group comprised of business organizations that are dedicated to building an equitable and sustainable economy.

Green Chamber Partners with New Business Alliance to Support Implementation of California’s AB 32

The Business Alliance for a Green Economy is thrilled to collaborate with the Green Chamber in a new campaign to harness business support for full implementation of the Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32). By joining in this effort, your business can amplify the growing number of voices saying “yes” to California’s clean energy future. The Green Chamber has offered to host the campaign on its site in order to provide businesses the opportunity to sign up and take action.

What next for climate change legislation?

At the end of June, the House of Representatives passed an historic climate change bill (the American Clean Energy & Security Act of 2009, or “ACES”). Originally promising to take up similar legislation this month, the Senate has pushed back its consideration until September. And expect more push-back in the Senate than in the House: Senators from coal, farm, and factory states are expected to demand additional modifications to the bill to protect their constituencies, which could weaken the environmental protections in the House version.
