Consumer Financial Protection Agency – Informational Call
February 23, 2010 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. (EST)
You’re invited to join the American Sustainable Business Council for a free educational conference call to learn about the important benefits that the proposed new federal Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) offers small businesses.
Dial 800 662-6992, then 123-5142#
Our guest speakers include: Elizabeth Warren, Chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel, charged with reviewing the current state of financial markets and the regulatory system and a Senior Legislative Aide from US. Senator Christopher Dodd’s office.
The financial crisis has demonstrated the need for a new independent federal agency to promote financial product safety and establish clear, enforceable rules of the road. The Senate Banking Committee, as part of its financial reform package, is considering creation of the CFPA. This new indepenednet federal agency will expose unsafe products and services and encourage accountability and fair competition. It will particulary help protect small businesses against deceptive financial practices.
This call follows upon ASBC’s national sign on letter, which attracted over 200 businesses and investors. The February 23rd conference call provides ASBC partners with timely information about the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, which we believe is a crucial step in restoring the trust we need to rebuild a thriving American economy.
After the call, we encourage you to contact your Congressperson or Senator and express your support of the CFPA. For more information about the CFPA and Financial Reform, please click here.
